What You Can Expect
Exploring Identity and Identification Through Theater
In the heart of Tuscany, within a vibrant community dedicated to self-learning, join us from October 4th to 11th for a unique, one-week seminar to explore the depths of identity and the concept of identification through theater.
In this seminar, we explore how theater provides a powerful lens for understanding the many roles we play in life. By consciously stepping into different characters, participants gain insights into how their identities are composed of various roles, from being a child, a sibling, or a friend to playing a role in society with one's beliefs, ideologies, and professions.
Adopting different personas reveals not just the flexibility of our identities but also how we may limit ourselves by strongly identifying with specific traits, beliefs about ourselves, and restraints.
Through the powerful tools of improvisation, theater, character building, and performance, we will step out of our comfort zones and into the wild, unknown possibilities of being. We will uncover how these identifications shape our actions and perceptions and how loosening these bonds can free us to respond more authentically to the moment and expand our relation to the world.
Exploring these themes within our community context adds another layer of depth. In Sentire, we live and learn together, creating a space where our identities naturally surface through relationships. This shared exploration makes the process more meaningful, as we see and understand ourselves through the mirror of community in a safe environment.
Most importantly, we approach this exploration with lightness and openness. This theater seminar is for anyone, professional or nonprofessional, interested in transformation through the power of Art. Theater allows us to "not take ourselves so seriously" and embrace the parts we might usually hide. Under these supporting conditions, we can discover new aspects of ourselves and meet them with joy.
